Hi, I'm Jen.

Magnolia Plantation Wedding in Charleston

Aug 12, 2020

A pandemic … and a hurricane … couldn’t stop Caitlin and Josh from celebrating their Charleston wedding day at Magnolia Plantation.  They celebrated their mini-wedding ceremony under a beautiful canopy of oak trees that was covered in gorgeous flowers.  With perfect blue skies, you would have never guessed that a hurricane rolled along the South Carolina just the night before.  Everything about their wedding day was just perfect.  There were so many sweet, and emotional moments sprinkled throughout that I feel so blessed to have photographed.

A First Look is always a good idea.

The day started in the Bridal Suite where I photographed Caitlin’s rings, stationery, and bouquet.  This tends to be such a sweet mother-daughter moment.  From putting on earrings to a splash of perfume, these moments are so great to photograph.  Her bouquet and gown were just so beautiful with the lace details and touch of a bohemian free-spirit.

We walked over to the Veranda for her bridal portraits there on the gorgeous southern porch.  This was a perfect transition for their First Look.  (Side notes: couples, let’s talk about why the first look is so amazing!!) Josh met us over on the prettiest garden path to see his bride for the first time!

Once Josh was set, Caitlin walked down, tapped him on the shoulder, and they shared the sweetest moment (without kids!) before their ceremony.  They are so genuinely in love, soul mates, cut from the same cloth!  Their love for each other made my job an absolute breeze!

The Flowerdale Garden is one of my favorite hidden gardens at Magnolia Plantation. And it’s perfect for bride and groom portraits! Caitlin and Josh were SO much fun to photograph … and were so natural in front of the camera!

A ceremony under the oaks.

The beauty of a First Look is that you knock out ALL of your bride and groom photos before the ceremony!  This means that once your formal photos are over … it’s time to party!

Oh my heavens, Fresh Weddings and Events created the most dreamy floral installation for their ceremony.  They actually hung flowers from the Live Oak Tree that canopied over the ceremony spot.  Their ceremony backdrop was absolute perfection!

Their parents and children joined them as they not only said I do to each other, but their beautiful children, too.  Let’s just say, it was the hardest I’ve ever cried during a ceremony!  Happy tears, of course!  Christy Loftin officiated their ceremony.  I love that she always creates space for all the natural emotions, tears and laughter making the ceremony feel very authentic and personal.

I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to capture all the beauty and tender moments that I know they will cherish forever.  It is with SOOO much joy that I am able to share a few of my favorite images from their wedding ceremony!

xoxo,
Jen
