There’s nothing like photographing a Charleston Gibbes Museum Proposal! Washington, DC couple, Liz and Phil, returned to Charleston, SC for a weekend getaway to visit family.  Together, they planned a weekend packed with embracing the Holy City’s best spots … including The Gibbes Museum of Art!

Little did Liz know, that Phil had teamed up with her mom and Charleston’s Luxe Proposal Planner, Jena, from Propose Charleston to create an absolute dream setting to pop the question at The Gibbes!

She thought they were just going to visit an Art Gallery.

The family arrived to peruse the galleries, but made a first stop to check out the beautiful garden outside.  Phil walked Liz down the charming avenue of oaks to a beautiful spot marked with rose petals, got down on bended knee, and asked Liz to spend forever together!  Liz’ reaction was one of my absolute FAVORITE to date … absolute surprise, joy, and just shock at how gorgeous her sparkly engagement ring looked on her finger!  Their immediate family joined them in the garden for hugs and pictures … but the surprises didn’t end there!

And then there was the second surprise!

After Phil’s proposal moment, they walked upstairs to the Rotunda for Champagne and Charcuterie.  And that’s where Liz’ very best friends and their extended family joined the celebration!  Her reaction was again, priceless!!

I had so much fun capturing their family enjoying the morning and then escaped with the newly engaged couple to take more photos at a few of my favorite spots downtown!  Needless to say, I am over-the-moon excited to share their gorgeous proposal with you!  Cheers to Liz + Phil! let the wedding planning begin!
