Charleston wedding + family photographer here! Welcome to my blog, a journal where I share all-the-pretty details, stories, and even a few tips. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Jen.

A Winter Pawleys Island Wedding at Litchfield Country Club

Nov 16, 2021

Erica and Ben’s Winter Pawleys Island wedding at Litchfield Country Club was one for the southern charm books!  I say Winter, because, well … the forecast was ONE HUNDRED percent rain! And also paired with a high in the low 60s …with up to 60 mile an hour wind gusts!  My drive up to Pawleys Island from Charleston was a complete downpour.  Though it’s so hard to make a rain call, it was a good call to bring their ceremony indoors with a forecast like that.  My drive up to Pawleys Island from Charleston was a complete downpour.

It’s good luck when it rains on your wedding day … and even better luck when it ends just in time for portraits!

The first thing I photograph the day of the wedding are the wedding details.  When I brought the rings, loose flowers, and paper outside to photograph, I had to secure everything from the wind!  (I may or may have used an entire roll of my sticky dots for extra caution!)  After Erica and the girls were all dressed, we walked out on the gorgeous southern porch to begin her bridal portraits.  Much to our surprise, it wasn’t raining!!  I’m so happy that we were able to get out and walk around the gorgeous property for portraits!

It’s not a matter of if I will cry at a wedding, but when!

One of my favorite moments during our portrait time was actually Erica’s Father Reveal.  Erica might not know this, but at one point I was almost at an ugly cry.  (I realize being 8 months pregnant with baby girl #3 probably had something to with that, too!)  It was just the way he hugged her in complete silence.  You could feel the deep love and I lost it!

Litchfield Country Club was a lovely location for their indoor wedding ceremony and reception!

I know Erica and Ben were heartbroken to move the ceremony indoors, but it was so, so beautiful!  Erica’s aunt is actually an incredible talented floral designer and the ballroom inside Litchfield Country Club was so beautiful.  With a candle lit aisle and a cross overflowing with flowers, it truly looked like their first plan!  And best part: everyone was cozy and comfortable!

Following the ceremony, we lucked out AGAIN with no rain!  We had the most perfect window to walk around the property for Erica and Ben’s husband and wife photos!  These two are just so in love and they made my job such a breeze!  Our light was perfect and we just had so much fun walking around taking photos before the reception!

Needless to say, I’m over the moon excited to share a sneak peek of some of my favorite photos so far!  There’s so much pretty still to edit, but I just have to share these!

Thank you so much to Erica and Ben for choosing me to capture their absolutely incredible Pawleys Island wedding day!

xo,
Jen
