This Spring Creek Club at I’On Charleston wedding was no April Fool’s Joke! It was PERFECTION! I knew Katie was a kindred spirit from our first conversation! I immediately knew we could be friends outside of wedding planning and that just added an extra layer of meaning to the entire day I photographed her wedding.
PRO TIP: Choose a great Getting Ready Location with incredible light!
Katie and Paul set me up for success by choosing two Charleston getting ready locations that both had incredible light! Both were AirBnb’s they booked and were both spacious and modern. Talk about the perfect start to the day! Katie also had flowers from her rehearsal dinner available for me to style with her invitation suite and jewelry details. I was in absolute heaven being able to use these gorgeous blooms for their photos!
Oh how I love Charleston’s Creek Club I’On Wedding Venue!
Creek Club I’On Charleston is an incredible wedding venue tucked away in Mount Pleasant, SC. The I’On neighborhood is so magical and the Club is in the heart of it with a breathtaking waterfront, marsh view. There’s nothing more iconic than a Charleston wedding with a great view: palm trees, live oaks, Spanish moss … along a gorgeous creek!
Katie and Paul were so excited to have a First Look before the ceremony. This gave us time to really plan a beautiful, intimate spot for the two to see each other for the first time on their big day. After so much brainstorming, we had the creative vision to shoot in a specific hidden location along the canals there in Creek Club I’On!
It took a LOT of research to find these coveted canals and gorgeous views! The problem is that Creek Club I’On is this gorgeous labyrinth of streets and alleys that wind along the beautiful marshes and creeks. Thankfully, Katie’s boss actually knew exactly the location we were looking for!
A Charleston waterfront wedding, with an iconic low country marsh view!
It was a PERFECT day for a spring wedding and Katie and Paul could not have had more perfect weather! After the First Look and portrait time, we headed over to the venue for the Father-Daughter Reveal. As a mom to 3 girls, this moment was so, so, sweet. The timing was perfect as we then took family photos and they had plenty of time for them to tuck away before the ceremony.
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that gathering together is a gift. And to party hard!
During the ceremony, I really started getting emotional just thinking about how this was my first wedding since 2020 that felt “NORMAL!” I didn’t think about the pandemic once and was just overwhelmed with gratitude over the gift that it is to be able to gather. To celebrate, together, with your favorite and most loved people is something to be treasured. From the toasts, to sharing a meal together, to drinks and dancing … it was so beautiful to experience these things again with a sense of normalcy!
I am so, so happy for Katie and Paul. It was an absolute honor to photograph their Spring Creek Club at I’On Charleston wedding. I left their wedding feeling like I had made two friends. They are so beautiful together, inside and out! It’s my hope that these photos will just add layers and layers of meaning year after year.
Cheers to Katie and Paul!
