A Charleston Wedding … with Snow!
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined photographing a Charleston Wedding … with SNOW on the ground! Lukia and Tucker’s wedding followed what will forever go down as the “Southern Snow of 2025!” I know this sweet Charleston couple was more than relieved to be able to both enjoy it … and see it melt just in time for their wedding day! I had the joy of meeting Lukia at her best friend’s wedding that I photographed a few years ago! And her best friend was also a bridesmaid in Lukia’s wedding! Lukia and Tucker are surrounded by the sweetest, most grounded, circle of family and friends.
When Serendipity meets The Bridge Run and Bumble!
But let’s go back to the beginning, because how these two met is such a fun story! Lukia and Tucker first caught each other’s eye while on a bus headed to the annual Charleston Bridge Run. A 10K run over the beautiful Ravenel Bridge, that for perspective, hosts 38,500 participants! So of those 30k+ people, they were on the same bus! The funniest thing is that they BOTH noticed each other on the bus! A few weeks later, guess who matched on Bumble … “randomly!” At the end of their first date, they both realized they had seen each other! During Tucker’s toast during the reception, he shared that he asked Lukia, “Wait, were you the one wearing a Wake Forest hat?” Call it fate, call it serendipity, call it divine intervention (that’s what I call it!) … these two were clearly a match chosen and meant to be!
As a Charleston Wedding Photographer, it’s the sweetest when I am invited to photograph a local Charleston couple! Lukia was born and raised right here, bringing an extra special layer of meaning to their wedding day. Her family is members at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where they hosted their ceremony. As we were walking out of the church to take photos, I overheard her say the lady sitting in the office taught her in school!
From Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church to Creek Club I’On
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox was beyond breathtaking as their portrait and ceremony backdrop! Nestled in downtown Charleston, it’s just iconic inside and out! The inside is an absolute dream, and photographed so beautifully! Seeing Lukia walk down the aisle, knowing this was a place she grew up, was so special.
Following their classic Charleston church ceremony, Lukia and Tucker celebrated their reception with family and friends at Mount Pleasant’s waterfront Creek Club at I’On. I absolutely love photographing at this Charleston Wedding Venue that’s tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood that overlooks the marsh. We timed the light perfectly, being able to take beautiful photos with the last bit of snow remaining! It was a dream!
The Details …
It was surprisingly still abnormally cold (for Charleston!) and one of my favorite details were the brown fur bolero’s Lukia styled with the girls classic black dresses. Her girls were stunning and oh my heavens, Lukia’s gown was absolute perfection with an iconic bow on the back! If you know me, I have such a love for all-the-bows! Shopping at Condon’s Bridal Boutique (a lifelong friend’s family boutique!) for her gown was a given! And the centerpieces Justin Wham created were breathtaking – with perfect winter white flowers and large monstera leaves overflowing! But the best part of their reception was by far the love that filled the room! The band took a break and all the guests joined in on the traditional Greek Kalamatianos Dance … it was incredible! I literally don’t think I stopped smiling the entire day! I also loved the little details like the traditional Greek wedding favors at each table that gave such a personal touch! Alee with Peper Events was at the helm of the wedding, coordinating all the details and pulling it together to make everything extra special!
From the bottom of my heart … I love that I get to share my gift of photography and love for all-things-weddings with couples like Lukia and Tucker. May these photos bring a lifetime (and more!) of joy to their family and future family!
xoxo, Jen
