POV: He Proposes on the Same Beach You Had Your First Date
As a Charleston Photographer, it doesn’t get much better than a Sunny and 75 degree day to photograph an Isle of Palms Proposal! Jason had this perfect beach proposal planned for literally months. And there was no question that a specific spot on Isle of Palms was the perfect spot for his proposal: the very spot he and Madolynne had their first date!
Their Charleston Proposal Story … How Jason pulled off an epic surprise!
And the best part, he managed to make this a total surprise! Jason and Madolynne are in the midst of a major life transition as they are prepping to move to Louisiana NEXT week! Jason came up with this story about how he had “hoped to propose” but the photographer “ME!” totally ghosted him and he just couldn’t make it happen! Madolynne was so convinced, that she even told her sweet mom that she didn’t think he would propose until after the move … and that threw her mom off, too!!
So on their last weekend in Charleston, and during a visit with Madolynne’s sweet parents in town … Jason chose the perfect afternoon to completely surprise her with the ring of her dreams! And ya’ll … this ring he designed is stunning!!!
As a professional Proposal Photographer, I am always thinking of creative ways to help pull of these surprises, and it actually be a SURPRISE! Jason thought of something that I will now be suggesting to all of my client’s throughout the planning process:
Pro Tip: Save your Proposal Photographer with a different name in your phone!
Why this worked … for months and weeks leading up to the proposal, I will frequently touch base with my clients to confirm details along the way. And the day of the proposal, I’m in touch starting with my client sharing their attire for the day and even their location! Needless to say, it’s super weird if he’s texting a JEN on the day of the proposal. Jason saved me in his phone as ZACH to just be even more sure this proposal was a complete surprise! This gave him confidence, too, each time he looked at his phone the day of the proposal. I thought this idea was genius and can’t believe I’ve not thought of it before this!!
I’m so thankful to have photographed such a milestone moment for Jason and Madolynne … in the same spot their Charleston journey together began as a couple. Now, as they plan their next chapter with a big move to another state, I just love that their proposal was a perfect close to their first chapter in Charleston. Cheers to this incredibly sweet couple!
