A Daniel Island Club Wedding is always such a joy to photograph as a Charleston Wedding Photographer! I had so much fun planning with Lauren: from their engagement session, to her bridal portraits, rehearsal dinner and of course their wedding day! And the sweetest bonus: they are Charleston locals, bringing another level of meaning to every moment and detail of their wedding!
A Charleston Ceremony at Stella Maris Church, Sullivan’s Island
Lauren and Nick’s Charleston wedding day started with getting ready at the lovely Cottages adjacent to the Daniel Island Club. The Cottages were beautiful backdrop for portraits before and after the ceremony, as it’s a quick walk to the Clubhouse!
Getting married in a Catholic Church was really important for their wedding day. And Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church was an absolute dream! The church has a breathtaking ceiling painted in a deep blue with gold stars – a nod to their name, which means Star of the Sea. With a statement lace train and veil, Lauren’s gown was absolutely stunning as she walked down the aisle.
Following the ceremony, guests traveled back to the Daniel Island Club for cocktails on the lawn overlooking the marsh views. The weather was incredible for their wedding day … and the sunset over the marsh did not disappoint!
A Bubblegum Pink Inspired Daniel Island Club Wedding Reception
It was a Black Tie attire and let’s just say, Lauren and Nick’s guests were dressed to perfection! I had so much fun photographing all of the guests dresses during cocktail hour! And what a fun bonus for guests to have photographs of themselves with the beautiful sunset. Following cocktail hour, the party continued inside Daniel Island Club’s ballroom.
As a lover of all-things-pink, Lauren and Nick’s reception was styled with the happiest pops of pink with high and low floral arrangements. The flowers perfectly paired with the bridesmaid’s bubblegum pink dresses! It was one of the happiest reception designs I’ve ever seen – and oh my heavens, Lauren’s reaction when she walked into the room for the reception reveal was unforgettable!
Lauren and Nick brought together some of my Charleston favs to bring their wedding day to life: Kala, from MOD Events, coordinated and designed every detail so beautifully … and all while making planning FUN! (Because wedding planning should be fun, too!) And getting to work alongside Drew from Dock House Digital hardly feels like work … I’ve known Drew for 10 years and his work gets better and better year after year!
Favorite Wedding Detail: A Charleston Live Wedding Painter!
It’s true … my favorite detail from Lauren and Nick’s wedding was being able to photograph my husband and business partner, Ben Keys Fine Art, painting their wedding! I may be biased, but their painting is officially one of my all time favorites! Lauren and Nick chose the Daniel Island Club Golf Course as the backdrop for their live wedding painting. Paired with the cotton candy sunset we had, and their sweet pup Ollie, the painting was so fun to watch come together throughout the night!
Ben and I feel so lucky when the stars align and we are able to paint and photograph the same wedding! It’s such an honor to photograph each and every moment of Lauren and Nick’s wedding day … and beyond special to know they will have these photos (and live wedding painting!) to fill the walls and frames of their home for years and years to come!
Cheers to Lauren and Nick and their perfectly pink Daniel Island Club Wedding Day!
