This Charleston Wedding Photographer took on her first full wedding at the gorgeous Windy Hill Barn in the Upstate of SC. It has been my dream to photograph weddings. And there’s a good chance that I won’t make it through typing this blog post without tears of joy. It’s been a long journey and a lot invested to get to this point. And I don’t mean just financially, but the time invested in taking several photography courses and all the practicing and editing along the way. The timing though, has never felt more right.
From Popping the Question to Walking Down the Aisle.
Caleb and Megan were the first Proposal I ever photographed and also the first full service wedding I ever photographed. Needless to say, this makes this blog post very special to me! Megan and Caleb chose the beautiful Windy Hill Wedding & Events Barn located in Simpsonville, SC. This charming venue in the Upstate was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and reception! Shortly after they booked their wedding date, the pandemic hit and Megan quickly found herself a “Covid Bride.” Wedding planning during the pandemic was a rollercoaster, but bless Megan and Caleb took it one day at a time. The stress and unknowns during such a season of uncertainty is a lot to handle for a bride and groom. Thankfully, the restrictions for gathering were lifted just in time and they were able to gather and celebrate!
A perfect summer wedding day.
As I share this blog, it’s SO much fun to relive the day. They chose a dream team to create all the magic of their day. I am officially a fan girl of Michelle of Ever Weddings. I felt such a kindred spirit and loved working with her! Megan and her bridesmaids started the day at a nearby Airbnb with the fabulous Hair and Makeup team Cotton Rouge & Company. Megan was so excited about her wedding gown that she found here in Charleston at the sweetest boutique downtown called, Magnolia Bride. Once everyone was dressed and wedding ready, we headed over to the venue.
It was one hot summer day, but the heat never crossed my mind as I photographed each moment. I took the bridal party up on the gorgeous hillside overlooking the barn for their group photos. One of my favorite moments during the day was Megan + Caleb’s Letter Reading. Instead of a First Look, the couple chose to meet on either side of a barn door and read letters to one another. Guests gathered up on the hill under the gorgeous oak trees. The look on Caleb’s face as Megan walked down the aisle with her father had everyone in tears! Their ceremony was so beautiful on that perfect August afternoon and the dinner reception and dancing that went on into the evening was so much fun!
Post Pandemic: Everyone is ready to party!
I embraced every moment and had so much fun capturing the beauty of their day. Cheers to this incredible couple! I feel so honored to finally share images from their wedding day!

Jen
