I’m so excited to share my top 5 Favorite Unicorn Birthday Ideas from my daughter’s 2nd Birthday Party! (Full disclosure: this party took place before Covid-19.) Birthdays are my absolute favorite and I love going all out for them! We love hosting birthday parties for our girls in our backyard. As a photographer, it’s so fun to style and photograph all the details of birthday plates and cups and sweet moments of eating cake and opening presents. This year we decided to gift the girls with a giant Unicorn Bounce House and it was worth.every.single.penny! Here are my favorite details from her party! I hope you love my unicorn birthday theme ideas!
1.) A Unicorn Themed Birthday Party needs a pretty rainbow cake!
Wildflour Pastry has made almost every single cake for our birthday celebrations. They are tasty and absolutely gorgeous. Totally insta-worthy! This year we had them create a pink base with a simple rainbow on the front. It perfectly matched Eloise’s dress and all the table scape details! And oh, the sprinkles were perfect!
2.) The Unicorn + Rainbow Birthday Dress!
I searched long and hard to find the perfect dress for Eloise’s Unicorn Birthday themed party. Finally, I found the perfect dress from the online shop, Smocked Auctions. If you haven’t shopped this sweet shop … buckle up, momma … there’s so much cuteness! I’ve purchased so many classic pieces from Smocked Auctions and her Unicorn Dress was just perfect! (Side note, I’m not sure why the name has Auction in it … it’s a normal children’s boutique.)
3) A Magical Day Birthday Plates + Unicorn Napkins, topped with Unicorn headbands
I really spent wayyy too much time deciding on the perfect plates, napkins, and favors for Eloise’s Unicorn Themed Birthday Party! The adorable blush pink star shaped plates that said “A Magical Day” were absolute perfection. (You can find the same plates here from My Mind’s Eye!) I paired each plate with an adorably sweet unicorn cutout napkin from Meri Meri. And of course, each place setting was complete with crowns for the boys and unicorn headbands for the girls. My sister in law gets credit for the headband idea!
4.) UNICORN MILK
I love each of these details, but the Unicorn Milk idea was one that I was MOST proud of pulling together and styling! I of course wanted there to be a pink specialty drink for the kids. Wanting to keep it “healthy,” I discovered a strawberry milk recipe. Somehow on Pinterest, I stumbled upon cocktails that were style beautifully with icing, sprinkles, and all kinds of yummy toppings. I married this idea with the strawberry milk recipe, and came up with a way to decorate sprinkles around the edge and topped it with Lucky Charms! Needless to say the kids LOVED it. … and I may or may not be doing it again for like every single party!
5.) The Unicorn + Rainbow Bounce House
I mean, hands down, if you are a parent of kids between the ages of 3-7 years old, a bounce house is totally worth the investment! The kids loved bouncing and it’s been such a life saver for entertainment for our family! The girls LOVE it! And of course, I absolutely HAD to splurge and purchase the bounce house with adorable unicorns and rainbows!
