Charleston Proposal at the Mount Pleasant Pier

Apr 11, 2021

With an iconic view of the Ravenel Bridge, this is one perfect Charleston Proposal at the Mount Pleasant Pier!  Aaron reached out to me about a month ago with and shared his vision to propose to his girlfriend Evie.  Having deep Charleston roots in her family, this location was a really special choice!

True Story: I have never photographed a proposal at the Mount Pleasant Pier until today!

I told Aaron that I would scout out the perfect location for his “bended knee moment” and circle back to make a plan for how the surprise will happen.  I was so, so excited to discover this little hidden, grassy pathway that walks alongside the main sidewalks to the pier.

This pathway was made for proposals!

Prior to the proposal, Aaron sent me a photos so that I would know it was them arriving.  One photo with Evie and another of their sweet pup who would be joining in on the surprise!  I recognized them immediately and let them pass ahead.  Since I already had my camera settings ready, I jumped up, and followed along taking pictures of their sweet walk.

Pro Proposal Tip: Tell your partner you’re going somewhere that requires them to dress up!

Aaron thought of everything.  He told Evie that they were going to dinner with someone she didn’t know.  Their first stop was cocktails down on the Pier.  Of course, none of this was true, but it allowed Evie to dress accordingly.  She looked stunning and was totally camera ready!  (Very well done, Aaron!)

Fast forward to the exact location for the bended knee moment: Aaron said he had to fix their pup’s collar … and that was the perfect moment to pull out the box and officially kneel to ask the question!  Evie’s reaction was absolute GOLD!  And her ring is absolutely stunning!

Following this epic moment, I walked with them around the park for a little mini-engagement session.  That’s when surprise #2 happened!  Aaron had planned for both of their parents to come into town to be there right after the proposal!  Evie was so, so surprise.  Next to the bended knee moment, there were two moments that hands down were also my favorite!

The first: The moment Evie saw her dad turn the corner and run towards her for a big hug!  The second: The moment Evie’s mom saw her engagement ring!  It’s a radiant cut diamond that are what dreams are made of!

After taking family photos, everyone joined Evie’s grandmother for a champagne toast!

I am so, so happy for Aaron and Evie and this first step towards forever together!  What an honor to capture the beginning of this new chapter together!  Needless to say, I am officially a fan of Charleston Proposals on the Mount Pleasant Pier!

xo,

Jen
