Hi, I'm Jen.

Charleston Engagement Photos with dogs

Jun 7, 2021

The Charleston Engagement Photos with dogs at Hampton Park make my heart so happy, and as a Charleston Wedding Photographer dogs are always a great idea!  Needless to say, I was so excited about Sarah and Ethan’s Charleston Engagement Photos at Rainbow Row and Hampton Park with their dogs!

It’s so much fun choosing locations with my couples!  Sarah and Ethan have chosen me to photograph their wedding this Fall.  Bonus: they have chosen my husband (Wed on Canvas) to create a live painting that day, too!  Since Sarah and Ethan will be getting married at the beautiful Old Wide Awake Plantation, they wanted to get some photos of downtown Charleston in their Engagement session.

Charleston’s Iconic Rainbow Row was a must for their Engagement Photos

We began the session early in the morning and on a weekday.  This is key for getting photos at Rainbow Row that don’t have other tourists in the background.  The shoot also goes faster because we don’t have to literally wait our turn to take photos!  We basically had it all to ourselves!  It was a perfect morning and the sun hit the homes perfectly to really show off their pastel colors!

Adding your dogs to the Engagement Session is always a good idea!

The second important detail for Sarah and Ethan’s wedding day was to include their two pups!  Since downtown can be very busy with both foot and vehicle traffic, we opted for a quieter location so the dogs could really focus and pose!  Hampton Park was the perfect location for this.  It’s such a large park that you can really tuck away for photos.  And bonus: the magnolias were in FULL bloom!  I loved getting to style Sarah’s gorgeous engagement ring with the magnolia flower!

Pro Tip: Bring a Trainer or extra person to your Engagement Session to assist with the dogs!

Photographing dogs is much like photographing children!  And every photographer knows, if you have help, it makes the shoot so much better, and faster!  Sarah and Ethan were so smart to bring along their dog trainer to the shoot!  Not only did their dogs get special time practicing, the trainer really helped me get the dogs looking on camera!  This shoot would have not nearly been the success it was without her!  And I’m so excited that their trainer will also be with us on the day of the wedding!

And check out their sweet pups’ bow tie and floral collar!  Also a wedding day must for the doggos walking down the aisle!

Cheers to Sarah and Ethan!  I’m so happy this sweet couple now call Charleston home and can’t WAIT until their wedding this Fall!

xo,
Jen
