Hi, I'm Jen.

Charleston Proposal at Waterfront Park

Jul 19, 2021

Nic decided to surprise Rachel with a Charleston Proposal at Waterfront Park!  The two planned a getaway with another couple to the Holy City.  Little did Rachel know that Nic had hired Charleston’s Proposal Planner, Jena, of Propose Charleston to coordinate the big moment!  I love photographing Jena’s proposals because she always is thinking through details and backdrops … which makes my job as a Proposal Photographer so much easier!

The plan: A Carriage Tour followed by walk through Waterfront Park

The evening began with a carriage tour with Palmetto Carriage Works.  The carriage tour dropped everyone off at the end of Vendue Range.   Rachel, Nic, and their friends began their stroll through Waterfront Park.  Cue Photographer: that’s when I began taking photos.

Proposal Planners help plan for the best proposals and photos, too!

Jena and Nic had already planned out the exact location for the bended knee moment.  The reality is that the Pineapple Fountain is packed with people on a summer Saturday evening.  And though it’s really fun to eat ice cream there or watch kids playing in the Pineapple Fountain, those are less than ideal details to have in the backdrop!

To avoid the crowds, Jena had Nic walk beyond the Pineapple Fountain to a large grassy lawn that’s lined with trees!  Jena marked the exact proposal spot with a circle of gorgeous rose petals.  The bended knee moment was epic, and Rachel’s reaction was priceless!

There’s no smile like a proposal smile!

She said YES!  I love, love, love capturing the joy and surprise moments after a proposal!  Rachel’s smile is why I LOVE my job!  Nic pulled off an epic surprise … and with their best friends to watch it all happen!

Following the proposal, I took Rachel + Nic on a mini-engagement session.  We strolled through Waterfront Park and downtown Charleston taking photos and eventually making our way to their dinner spot.  Nic made reservations for Peninsula Grill!  (And I can’t wait to hear if they liked the Coconut Cake!)

I’m so happy for Rachel + Nic and feel so honored to have captured this incredible moment in their lives together!

Jen
