Eloise’s Art Painting Birthday Party

Apr 1, 2025

Why a Pop-Up Art Studio with Jack & Jill’s Little Art Co. is the Best Charleston Birthday Party Idea … Like EVER!

Squishmallow Art Painting Birthday Party

4 Reasons this Squishmallow Themed Art Painting Birthday Party was a win … for the kids and parents!

Hosting an Art Painting Birthday Party in our backyard with Jack & Jill’s Little Art Co. was quite possibly one of our favorite kids birthday party ideas yet! Eloise recently brought home a drawing from school of what she wanted to be when she grew up: A Live Wedding Painter! Just like her dad, a Charleston Live Wedding Painter! (Check out the Ben Keys Fine Art website here to see his live wedding paintings!) Needless to say, a painting party was the perfect birthday theme for this aspiring artist!

If you’re looking for a Charleston birthday party idea that’s fun, engaging, and (miraculously) quiet, let’s talk about the magic of hiring an art teacher with a pop-up studio. Eloise had so much fun painting with her friends and the fabulous teacher, Miss Jill, who hosts art classes and camps out of her home studio here in Charleston, SC! Our girls absolutely adore Miss Jill and her art classes! (She practically has celebrity status in our neighborhood!)

I’m so excited to share why this art party worked so surprisingly well … and even with a studio overflowing with brushes and art supplies, I would 100% hire Jack & Jill’s Little Art Co. every-single-time before attempting this on my own!

Charleston Art Party for Kids

1. A Stress-Free & Mess-Free Party for Parents

When you bring in an art teacher with essentially a mobile studio, they handle everything. We’re talking brushes, easels, pre-sketched canvases—every little detail. No last-minute supply runs, no stress over setup. She brought everything the kids needed to make their paintings. We chose a great spot in our backyard to avoid any mess or spills inside. (Side note, they hardly got any paint on my tablecloths outside – Miss Jill is just so, so good.)

The only thing I would do differently next time is choose a more shady spot. When the sun is shining bright on the canvases, it’s just a little harder on the eyes. (And it was hot!)

2. An Art Lesson + Birthday Party, All in One!

A great art teacher doesn’t just provide supplies—they actually teach. Miss Jill led the kids through a step-by-step painting lesson, making it fun and easy for everyone to follow along. She has colors pre-selected, and breaks the painting up into stages. Even kids who had never painted before were completely engaged, and by the end, they were so proud of what they had created. Miss Jill makes it stress free and so fun for the kids as they create their painting! Not only do the kids sign the back of their canvases, she even goes the extra mile to teach them how to paint the edges of the canvas once the painting is complete! (This gives the painting such a great finish – and looks so perfect when styled on the wall!)

3. The Quietest Party You’ll Ever Host

Here’s the unexpected bonus: kids sit still. Once the painting begins, they are completely focused. And I mean FOCUSED! No running wild, no sugar-induced chaos—just little artists deep in concentration. And in the best way! The quiet hum of creativity was truly a parent’s dream! The parents were able to enjoy catching with with great conversation as they painted.

4. The Best Party Favors Ever

Instead of sending kids home with plastic trinkets and slime, they leave with something way more meaningful—an actual piece of artwork. And not just any artwork, but something so good that parents are thrilled to hang it in their home. It’s a keepsake that lasts far beyond the party day. Our girls have attended many camps and classes with Miss Jill over the years and we literally have an art wall of all the paintings the girls have created. They are so, so, so good! This isn’t just a little drawing that you file away – these paintings bring so much joy to style in our home!

Why You’ll Want to Do This Party Every Year

A pop-up art painting birthday party isn’t just another birthday activity—it’s a creative experience kids will remember. It brings out their inner artist, gives them something to be proud of, and makes hosting effortless for parents. If you’re looking for a party idea that’s unique, fun, and beautifully simple, an art party is the way to go!

And bonus: If you’re in the Charleston area and considering an art painting birthday party, here’s a link to follow along for art classes and camps offered by Jack & Jill’s Little Art Co.!
